On Saturday there is going to be a free outdoor concert, Europa Plus Live. Rachel and I plan to attend as we’ve gotten into Russian music since we’ve been here. We’ve bought several CDs after hearing and seeing the songs played on the music channels on TV. I’m really surprised that it’s free because some big names will be playing there (Dima Bilan, Sergei Lazarev, Morandi). Nonetheless it’s quite exciting.
Today I spent some time with one of the Thai girls we’ve befriended. We attempted to visit Menshikov Palace together but it was closed. So we walked along the embankment and took photos. We ended up speaking almost entirely in Russian which was so much fun and I felt that there was a unique bond between us because we’re both struggling to learn the language and can share this experience with each other and can also communicate with each other in Russian. A unique and wonderful experience that I hope to repeat many times in the future.
